Because that tuner is an off the shelf tuner and it don't have enough power to make smoke. If you would have asked about tuners/chips before you bought that one, we would have told you what is best for the 7.3
hitting dead spots all over huh, well which one would you have recommend or can i "tune" the tuner for my truck to make it correct.
Well, like I said, ask before you buy or do. lol. I run the DP-TUNER along with lots of people on here. It is a custom chip built for your truck and your truck only. DP along with TW and PHP are among the preferred tuners on here. You also need to do some supporting mods for a custom tune/chip. You should have 4" exhaust, intake and gauges.
i already have a 4" manifold and i am pretty sure the air filter is 8" i just need a site to get that dp tuner, the hyperpac is going back. i noticed very little difference when i modded it.
what else woudl you recommend i get now that i have some pocket change
Give Clay a call. He is a great guy and has helped lots of us on the prices. He can get you what you need. Click here. Give him a call. You will make smoke soon. lol
See, sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. Now your issues make perfect sense.
As mentioned, put the gauges in, think about installing a shift kit in the tranny, and put a real chip in the truck. The ones we're talking about are shift on the fly, so you can drive around in economy setting and twist the **** if you want to get on it.
You WILL notice a difference in how the truck performs with a real chip, and you'll be able to see some smoke. Then you'll discover you can get even more power if you want to, and after more reading here at FTE, you'll discover you can do the work yourself. Then you'll find another mod you want to do, and the cycle repeats itself.
Two things will happen at this point. 1) you'll get what's called Perma-Grin. That's where you can't wipe the stupid smile off your face when you drive because your 8,000 lb brick flies down the road. 2) you'll have PMS (Powerstroke Mod Syndrome) where you are always looking for the next step in the process.

Nope, sorry. We don't allow that kind of stuff here at FTE.
You can't leave us hanging. Did you get a DP from Clay or direct from Jody? (same price) What tunes did you get? Did you get gauges? C'mon man, spill the beans.
Yeah, yeah, all the folks that can't stand the digital gauges like the electronic switch.
I knew someone would bring the button up, just didn't figure it would take so long. Besides, Jody used to use a **** and I've got to support the local guy anyway.
just installed the dp tuner in my truck, felt like i was in a porsche. i never knew my truck was that fast. she blows a little smoke, tried sitting still and spooling up the turbos, not to sure though feels liek the engline pulls the breaks loose every time any ideas?
i got the 120 80 60 pull brake and cold start. dp tunner is hands down the way to go
If only I had a dollar for all the "just installed my DP tuner" ... "I never knew" ... "I'll never doubt you guys again" I'd be rich by now.
Well you can't say I didn't try to warn you earlier. Now since I'm sure you're hooked, we can move on to other things.
First I'd say we should talk about gauges. If you were using the old programmer as a gauge, I'd say Boost, Pyro, & tranny temp are in order. Also to be on the safe side, let's check your exhaust system. In your first photo, the part of the turbo you had labeled "1st" the pipe coming off that side that goes down under the truck, the down pipe (no we're not really to creative) is what you need to measure to see what size exhaust you have. If it's 4" diameter coming off the back of the turbo, you're good.
