I have a JVC stereo receiver with a Sirius satellite attached. Sirius has disappeared from my selections, and tec support says to unplug from the back of the head unit and reset. I am not sure how to get to the stereo. I assume I need to remove the panel directly below it. Does any one have a link that shows how to get to this area?
On another related issue, how hard is it to add rear speakers to the rear doors of a club cab if there are no cutouts in the door panels? Is it better to just put new speakers behind the seat? Or should I just put more money into the fronts and call it good?
Hey Chris.
Highland is about 1.5 hours north and east of SD. I am next to Redlands and San Bernardino. Help is always welcome! I have friends in SD, maybe I should come visit and also work on the truck. Sounds like fun to me. I am planning on attending a little gathering with Clay from Riffraff this weekend. It will be a 14 hour drive one way. That is why I was interested in fixing my little satellite issue. I am leaving tomorrow morning at around 4 or 5. Long day.
Hi Jim.
It is a single din with a little spacer on top.
You can also unplug the same cable from the sirius box, if you know were that is. Turn it on, then turn it off. Reconnect the cable.. something similar happened to mine once. Now if I have to let it sit for a second +with glow plugs i shut off the head unit before starting
if it is single din chances are it has a basket around it ...
remove the thin trim ring around the unit then u will see a thinner silver "basket around the head unit... ur only gonna see the edge
that basket holds it in
if u bought the unit new in the box it may have came with keys they side in on the right and left sides and will unlock tabs so u can slide it out the front
if u dont have the keys a butter knife works well
Well after sliding butter knifes around, taking apart bits and pieces of my dash, searching for the sat radio, and generally chasing my tail around, I finally fixed it. Never did manage to pull the radio. Never reached the sat receiver. It dawned on me that all I was trying to do was stop power from getting to the sat receiver so that it and the radio could reset. So I just pulled the negative battery terminals to eliminate power everywhere. Worked like a charm. Everything is back to normal, except I need to redo all of my channel assignments. At least it works again! Thanks for all the help guys. It was reading Mikes post that got me thinking about interrupting the power. Funny how the mind works ..........
Good deal, glad you got it. You should probably consider shutting down the stereo when you start the truck, if you let the glow plugs on at all. Seems to make it so this wont ever happen again. Worked for me.
