rearend replacement

Hey-I am trying to figure out what the tag #s on the
diferrential mean--ie.. mine reads-- S862C--- what I
really need to know is what the "C" stands for.Thanks

Call your local Ford Parts Depot and give them the last 8 digits of your VIN, and all the numbers on the tag.

If you are looking to replace or get parts those numbers won't matter just gear ratio , limited slip and ring gear size..Ring gear size will be either 8.8 or 9.75 (unless you have a 7700 then 10.25) and ratio will be like 3 55 and if it is limited slip it will say 3 L 55.
