So some a-hole stole my air filter a couple months ago (also snagged my 2speed differential button). Hasn't been a problem since the truck isn't even here yet (be here saturday though! Finally), but I'm going to need something.
I took a look at some of the pictures I took while there and that carb looks like it won't hold anything modern. It's a 272 Heavy Duty with a 2bbl carb. Man that thing is rediculasly tall. I don't want to buy a new carb if I am just going to switch to a 3x2 set up later. Right now my truck has more pressing issues anyways, like a bed. Anyone got any ideas? I have a couple "modern" air filters (ring style and a triangle one)
Stephen,..is that air-filter housing also an oil-bath unit?
Might need to think of some provisions for that.. Too bad someone had nothing better to do than walk off with some of your stuff..That always sucks.
Chicken-wire and sponge construction??
I was thinking of chicken wire and stucco,or a 5 gallon drywall bucket with a trashcan lid, or .. LoL!
Hill-billy HotRods Good Luck!
The 272's are new to me... so I have no idea if its also an oil-bath unit... but by what I've come across it should make a difference if I have to switch to a paper-filter
Part book calls out an oil bath aircleaner for you truck. (The engine I bought out of a '62 still had an oil bath on it.) Pending diameter of a/clnr mounting base on carb and height of carb above base, I don't know why you couldn't use a generic aftermarket aircleaner. The round 10" or 14" variety until you figure what you want to do with it.
