Mis-fire

I set my timing to stock and when i punch the gas it pings like a bitch, i advanced it some and it still pings a little. I have replaced the coil (msd blaster), accel cap and rotor, new wires and plugs, new airfilter and exhaust. Any Ideas? my dad said possible play in the timing chain... truck has 154,000 miles on it.

If it`s pinging you want to retard the timing not advance it.you went the wrong way.you go counterclock wise to retard the timing.

I guess you set the timing at 10 degrees btc?if so you might have some play in the timing chain and need to bump it back to 8 and see what it does.
