Hello. I have a 2002 F-350 Power Stroke Diesel 4X4.Last year I replaced the Cam Pos. Sensor and fuel injector wiring harness. Now the truck bogs down (hesitates) between 15 and 65 MPH. Seems fine above 65. Have a feeling it might be a filter problem.I have replaced the fuel filter on top. Is there another fuel filter on the drivers side rail? I see the fuel pump there. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
You should be replacing the top and frame rail fuel filters both at the same time, every 10 to 15k miles and only with original Motorcraft or Racor fuel filters. (Racor makes the Motorcraft filter.) You should also be draining the fuel/water separator, which is also in the fuel pump on the frame rail at the same time.
If you had a fuel restriction, the problem would increase with speed or load of the engine. Things clearing up above 65 mph, but being apparent at 15 mph, means it's not a fuel restriction.
There's only one fuel filter on your 7.3. They didn't add the frame mounted filter until the 6.0. The only thing you'll find on the frame is your fuel pump. A fuel restriction inside the tank is possible on a 7.3, but not with the symptoms you have.
Thanks F350-6. I guess I should have stated it was a 7.3L. This problem is driving me nuts. The truck runs great except for that problem. I have no idea what else to try.
Well the first thing you need to do is figure out a better description than bogs down between 15 - 65. That's a heck of a range that covers most normal driving conditions. Also, what does bogs down mean? Low boost pressure, rough running, bucking, missing, tranny not in the right gear, smoke coming out the tail pipe (what color)? Does the check engine light ever come on? Is there any chip / tuner in the truck?
The more info we have, the easier it is to start figuring this out.
It acts like it is not getting enough fuel/ hesitates. I guess you could say bucking. It never smokes. There is no chip/ tuner. When I'm driving normal up to 65MPH it has this problem. When I floor it the problem goes away. It has 135,000 miles, oil changes every 3000 miles and I tow a 15000 pound trailer with it. I never notice the problem when I am towing. The engine light does not come on and there are no codes. It is a stock truck/ stock gauges. It has a 6" lift with 37" tires.
