42 psi is what the truck is capable of according to Ford. I have seen mine hit the 40 before. Last time was when I was in boston going up a very steep on-ramp with a light right at the bottom and very short ramp. So to floor it went.
Got to chime in here, gets my motor running when we talk towing.
1. I have tried, with all the weight I can throw at it (14-16K) and can't get more than 36 psi on the boost. According to my gauges I can get 36psi and just touch 1305 on the EGT. Stock numbers.
2. Turbo spool down and up is pretty loud and totally different sound than with a Duramax or a CAT. Might catch you off guard but I agree that it's likely nothing to worry about. Keep driving it and get used to it's behavior under load.
3. The MPG on a 6.4 vs. a 6.0 is like night and day. Don't compare them, us 6.4 operators really take it in the uknowwhat.
4. I just can not get used to how well these trucks handle trailers. The whole thing (suspension/chassis/cockpit/mirrors/transmission/powerplant) is just a dream. I have a little over 6K on my truck this September, all towing, 0% solo running. I am ready for more, no stress, no fatigue, just run it hard and don't look back. FYI, I have a 16ft, 20ft tag along usually in and under the 10K range and a 36ft fifth wheel enclosed cargo trailer that loaded puts me 14-16K. Done it all this month and lovin life.
where do you see EGT on stock setup?
4. I have to agree.. I might even have to move the seat up. being 6'2 that has NEVER occurred before.. We did that 3300 miles with the suburban and we couldn't use cruise cause it lagged too much and ended up with the engine at 4500rpm or higher all the time.. cruise on this thing just held 70 without any problems. and the mirrors are the first I've ever had I can actually SEE with.
