I have an opportunity to get some parts from a 1976 F-250 4X4. I have a 1966 F100. Reading previous threads I recall that many frame parts are interchangeable. I would like to take the power brake assembly and the power steering out of the donor truck. Being it is a 4X4 will these parts work on my truck? Please let me know what is useable on the 66 F100. Thanks Steve
Steve: I am assuming your '66 F-100 is a 4x2, correct? If so, only a few parts will work, and only a very few. I think the power brake booster will be about it, and the engine if it is the same as what you have now.
The reason is that the donor is a 4x4.
Now, if you had a '66 4x4, your find would be an excellent one for you, as the later 4x4 running gear is more desirable.
If you have a '66 4x4, get the whole truck. You will be able to upgrade a lot of things.
Thanks for the advise on 4x4 parts verse 4x2 parts. I was not sure being how I have a 4x2 and the donor was a 4x4 what would inter-change. I think I will at least get the brake booster. What would be a fair price for this?
Steve, The correct donor will have a booster, do you need tow.
I advocate buying your donor truck so that you will have all the parts needed. Sell parts that you don't need and your donor parts can be cost free to you. I have done that several times.
