Just left the "Discount Tire" store in San Diego while pricing tires and the sales guy told me on October 16th that all tires were going to increase in cost by 30% due to our wonderful worldly woes. I heard the rumor before but had no idea it was really true. I don't know if it was a sales pitch to rush a sale or something. What has anyone else heard?
The news I've seen indicates that the tariff imposition is on China imports, which evidently means "discount" or cheap tires, not American-made. Increasing the price of ALL tires hardly seems warranted.
Might explain the line out the door a couple of weeks ago when I went to Discount Tires to get new tires for my F-250.
But I agree with BareBones, Chinese tires, yes to an increase due to tariffs but counter-productive to sales overall to raise all prices.
