I have a long thread going on about this in the 99-03 section but at this point in my swap I have a specific question.
I was told that there is a plug in the valley of the engine that I will need to plug up when I remove the mechanical fuel pump. In my case, when the fuel bowl and pump were being pulled out the pump section somehow broke off. Basically, I can see a hole in the bottom of the valley but its perfectly plugged up. Do I need to worry about this if I am swapping into an 01?
It broke evenly in half. A smaller object in the middle of another form of metal. I RTVed that section and after turning the engine over twice by wrench, I was unable to see anything buldge the RTV sealant. What is my next step? I still have the engine out.
Well If what you are saying is the pump broke in half and the part of the pump that goes in the block is still in there chances are the tappet is in the motor and it will make it,s way to the oil pan by turning over by hand like stated above but seeing how you have the engine out you may want to take the oil pan off and see if it is in there I know I would.
