hey ya'll. just wondering what the technicalities will be for switching a F150 supercab on to an F150 regular cab frame. the frame is a 78, the cab is a 79. the frame is also made for a long box. the cab is from a 2wd, the frame is 4wd, so i know ill have to make mods for the t-case. anything else?
P.S.- this is a speculation. i dont have the truck with the cab yet, but i am curious to know if it will work fairly easily.
A supercab shortbed is the same Frame as single cab longbed. I have gotten out a taken measuments before. I wanted a supercab 4x4 but could only find 2 wheel drives. As I was on my way to buy a supercab 2 wheel drive I saw in a field a supercab 4X4. So I bought it for $500.
a supercab short bed (139"WB)is not the same as a standard cab long bed (133"WB)
and the frame on a supercab is totally different there is a huge step in the frame on a super cab i have a junk supercab sitting on an old 2wd reg cab frame and the only way i see it working is to channel the hell out of the floor.
youd be etter of getting a whole truck
I have put a supercab on my highboy 133" WB chassis. I hadto lift the front of the cab about 3", front clip close to 4" and the box 4" off the frame, just to have 3/4" of clearance from the rear of the cab to the frame rails.
If you don't mind a little body lift, give'r, get'r done.
