My 1997 4x4 ext cab 4.6 f150 has a really annoying squeak when you turn the steering wheel at a slow speed or at a stop, like when ur trying to park or in the drive through line, what i wondered is what is the cause of this? is it my upper and lower ball joints? or my tie rod ends or what? any help would be appreciated. also i want to know if i need to fix it immediately or what. thanx
Mine makes a similar noise.
My noise is low pitched, almost like a moan.
I think that it's steering column bearings, and the guy I bought it from said it's done it for as long as he can remember.
I'm not going to worry about it since there seems to be no binding and I only hear it when making large turns of the wheel, like when parking...
I don't know if the column bearings are accessible and/or able to be lubed.
I imagine the pulling the column would be a real mother, so unless it starts binding I'm not going to worry about it....
well ok thank you for the help and yeah it doesnt bind at all it just does it when parking, and i guess its more of a low squeak, i just wanted to fix it cause it gets annoying some times but if its nothin then i wont worry about it
