Front Clip Swap

Hey Guys-

I just picked up an 87 F250 with a 4sp and a 300 for a song.

It's got a little front end damage.

I was wondering if it was possible to swap front clips to the newer style I think it's 92-97? Or even the older 80-86 style? I think either is better looking than the 87 style.

I was hoping a swap one way or the other could be completed with new fenders, grill, hood and lights.

Thanks
Josh

But what about going to an older style 80-86?

You can go older, but then you might want to find an older bed as well so the fender lines will match.

I think you can put the 92-96 front clip on a 87-91. I wouldn't go older, because like Sycostang said, the wheel wheel and body lines are different. I do like the 80-86 body style though.

What's different on the 80-86? I'll be dumping the bed for a flatbed anyhow so the fender openings arent that big of a deal.....What about the doors?

The difference is the crease that goes over the wheel arch. On the 80-86 trucks, there is a crease going over the wheels. On the 87 and up trucks, the wheel arches flare out. The doors will line up fine, only real differences are the wing windows changed shape slightly on the newer doors and 95 doors have an extra line on the bottom that wont affect how it looks on any other year of truck.
