When I first bought my pickup this was the case. I pulled the switch out and found the contact area all corroded. I tried to clean it but in the end replaced the switch, then the lights worked perfectly.
The '67 F100 that I bought a few weeks ago also has no dash lights at night. Then I noticed that the footwell area around the pedals would get brighter and dimmer when I turned the dimmer control......I assume that means that the lamp socket assembly has come loose and is dangling back there. I haven't pulled the cluster out yet to fix it, but at least I know the circuit works!
Just something else to check. LMC Truck has all that stuff, plus there are some guys selling replacement switches on ebay.
