Hey Everyone, Having a problem with my project and was told about this site.
I have a 1974 F-250 4x4 with a 460 swapped in it. The Problem is I have a no start condition. Well, actually I have No juice whatsoever. No Crank, Headlights,Taillights, radio nothing. I do have a New Battery, solinoid, Engine is grounded to chassis. I need a place to start. I'm sure it's something I'm overlooking. But, any and all pointers are great. Thanks guys.
How do you check that? I've owned a few dents but never had any electrical problems from them.Where's the wire that powers the panel. I'll hook a test light to it and let ya know.
Okay, I found a fuse box replacement tutorial on here. It said the 2 fuses that power the fuse block are the top left and the bottom left. Both these fuses are dead, no power. Also, I jumped the starter solinoid to see if she would crank. She did all right, Fired right up and STAYED running with the key off. Looks like I have some "issues" to work out.
Also found out that L&L Fenderwell headers for a 70's F-150,Bronco 460 swap will bolt up and clear EVERYTHING. Coil bucket on a F-150 or Bronco won't allow F-250 headers though.

The key was off and it ran? How did you shut it off? Pull the coil wire?
at least you werent pouring gas into the carb like my friend did, then yelling $***!, flinging gas out of the 5 gallon can as he was swinging around gas pouring all around the garage walls, setting everything on fire after it backfired. you should have seen his face. (the truck was mostly ok)

Yeah, to hell with the house. Atleast the truck made it.
Anyboby know what the Blue with a yellow stripe, Black with a yellow stripe and the yellow with a black stripe by the starter solinoid are for? I only have the positive from the battery hooked to the 'noid. I'm sure these power the fusebox but, I'd like some conformation Before I burn my truck to the ground. I don't trust 30+ year old wiring.

1) Yellow/Black Stripe: Ammeter wire There should be a Red/Orange wire somewhere around the same area.
2) Black/Yellow stripe: Main power feed for truck. Goes to ignition switch, or acessory safety relay for dual battery equipped trucks. Protected by a fuesable link. Hooks into the Black/Red wire at the same splice the Yellow/Black stripe wire is spliced, or at the starter solenoid battery terminal, depending on options the truck has, there can be more than one. All are main power feeds.
