adding a gear...
welp finnally found the transmission of my mission ( ha ha ha bad joke) a 5spd out of a 87-92 generation F150 long bed with no extras(no LS diff), and a 300 I6... due to the small motor and the lack of options i am assuming it is a Mazda 5speed out trucks came with. for more information on the ZF series, which were the other 5speeds many people throw in, see here

i went with the smaller, weaker mazda model because i'm not going to be producing insane ammounts of power even with a BUILT I6, along with the rarity of a 2wd ZF and the expense of getting one when you find it drove me away. a buddy came across one and said i could use whatever parts i needed from the donor truck to make it fit.... i already have a hydraulic clutch (if one isnt there you need one) and i am unsure at this point what i am needing to do about driveshaft modifications and speedometer issues. i did manage to find the gear ratios of m5sod and did some compairson, exact calculations will be added later, having issues with computer. any imput on anything would be highly appreciated particulearly the flywheel/pressureplate diameters and the driveshaft length, will keep u updated as time goes by...

its cool, i've heard of this being done but usually with poor results due to user error EX excessive towing in 5th, or dropping in a 408 stroker and expecting it to hold... i want to be able to spin the ever living hell out of my tires, able to go 75MPH without fear of floating the valves, and get a little better mileage... other wise i would shoot for a ZF

What year mazda trans did you get? If it is a 87-91 it will have the hole for the speedo. If it is a 92-96 you are S.O.L. You will need a differnt tail housing to be able to put the speedo cable in
