I have a 75 F250 Camper Special with a 460 that I would like to increase its performance. My experience with such a project has been limited to imports. My interests would consist of having the heads rebuild, installing an upgraded intake manifold, headers/dual exhaust system, new carbureator and some cosmetic upgrades under the hood as well.
Some of the work I will do and some will be done by my local shops. However, I would like to have a reasonable understanding of what I am talking about when dealing with shops and parts stores.
What are some good sources of information for someone do read and gather information on "how-to", "important things to consider", and "be careful with/watch out for" types of information as it applies to my quest?
What are your goal(s) for this project? Are you looking for more power, better fuel econnomy, or what or combination there of? Your goals determines what you will need to do. Just modifing things and addin random parts generally ends up worse than stock.

Goals: (in order of preference)
Power - increase whp in the low/mid range (0-60 mph).
Sound - create a deep aggressive tone at idle and under acceleration.
Appearance - under the hood, give it a clean look and somewhat flashy.
Fuel ecomony - would be nice to improve on as I currently get about 9-10 mpg. But, I do not drive it daily, so that is not as important.
