Seems like everyone is pretty much deadened to the sound of a car alarm these days. If I were you, I would get a 2 way alarm that will allow you to do something about it. I have plans to install one on my truck and not hook up the lights or siren. I would love to be notified when someone breaks into my truck and find them out there...
Tristan... That is very true.I still look to make sure no child or women is getting molested but....you are right about tunning them out.
Do you have a brand name in mind?
I have a Crimestopper alarm and remote start installed 5 years ago, still working great. Every install comes with a lifetime warranty and they do honor it when I had minor glitches. They even replace batteries in the remote.
Get a two way transmitter alarm as mentioned above, and then for performance and security, get an F5 switch DP Tuner loaded with all your favorite tunes and just remove the switch in seedy areas, tuck it in your pocket and your truck will never be started without it. Well this is good advice only to those without a tuner as I see that you have Tony Wildman tunes, making the DP obviously redundant. So, get the two way alarm, and be ready do deliver a whoop-*** when it sounds off!

Thanks Ryan....Really this is for my sons Dodge,he goes to UTI in Houston and his truck was broken into at Lowes in the Woodlands.
I forgot to mention that it is handy to get a command start feature in the alarm as well. Makes for starting in the cold nicer, as well as the heat. Just leave the temp setting and fan to desired position and wait a few minutes. Love that feature. Works awesome for having a pet wait in the vehicle on hot as hell days too, as you leave your rig running with the AC on for up to 20 mins at a time.

It's a shame that we live in a world where we have to spend so much time and cash concerning thieves. The good news is that many thieves now know that many alarms are two way transmitted and unless they want the confrontation, the alarm actually can work instead of being ignored.
It all depends on what you want the system to do, Barry. I used to sell and install these things for 6 years.
Ive seen systems at my cost of like 24 bucks perform better than others that are 10x that price. Viper is a pretty good brand, but you will pay for their name. I wouldnt go with a Viper with all the bells and whistles. A simple starter disable and 2 way paging alarm will give him ample time to head out there to see whats going on. Maybe add on a glass breaking sensor for like 40 bucks and youd be set.
Python is made by the same people as Viper (Directed) and is basically the same stuff without the Viper name. Check them out as well. Its a pretty simple breakdown...remote start and alarm, alarm only, or remote start only. Decide on that then go from there!
