Gentlemen: My 7.3 has 150K on it and I will soon need to start diagnosing and making repairs as issues come up. I am no stranger to mechanical work, just check out my Slick.
However, I am not familiar with the intricacies of the 7.3, so I have some basic questions - more will follow.
Which scanner is recommended? I have an Actron CP-9180, but I have not yet determined if it will do the buzz test.
What is the buzz test, how do I conduct it and how do I interpret the results?
Most consider the Auto Enginuity (AE) software package the best for working on the 7.3. Most scanners can't read all the codes that Ford/Navistar use with the 7.3, but the AE can.
As for the buzz test & how to interpret, I can't help you there.
Are you having any problems with your truck at present?
