First of all are those little green lights built into the batteries supposed to glow at all times...cause i just went outside and both of mine are not glowing?...I need some quick help here guy's...i have been experiencing some pulsating of my lights on my F250...i think it is an alternator problem..i have one on order to pick-up tomorrow...after reading some threads on here i am worried now that i may have bad batteries after all even tho they checked out fine at auto-zone...when auto zone checked them they did not disconnect the red positve wire from the other battery..having both batteries hooked together will give false readings correct????.....The guy checked my pass side battery and it had great ample juice to it....but this reading could be false correct? because they were both connected together?
6litrefan...correct ...your batteries are connected in parallel and should be tested separately. You may have one bad and one that test okay...if they're the same age (i.e. 4-5 years)...then replace them both. The sight glass indicator could be green, black, or yellow/white....green is usually good (I use that term loosly), black could be okay (sometimes when sight glass appears black...tap on the top of the battery..it may change color), yellow/white usually indicates a bad battery. Either way the sight glass indicator only reveals the charge state of one cell....the remaining cells may be good or bad. That's why a good load tester is handy to have. Hope this helps.
