hey guys. my truck is missing out @ WOT once the boost builds. kinda feels like there may be air in the fuel or oil systems. any ideas on what to check?? i'm going to check for oil leaks this evening after work. found oil in the 2nd and 3rd divets back in the valley. first divet is completely dry. i briefly looked it all over yesterday after i got the u-joint fixed and couldn't find any leaks, but the wires for the IPR were hanging down in the oil in the 2nd divet in the valley so i pulled it up and zip tied it to some other wires to get them outta the oil. when i did that i noticed that the plug on the IPR moved. like you can spin the plug on the IPR quite a bit. could this be the problem?? it felt like the tin nut on the IPR was tight. thanks guys
i will try to tighten it a little after work today if it's not still raining. i looked yesterday and instead of oil in the valley it was fuel. think i found it and took care of that last night. will know for sure with driving b/c it was such a slow leak that i couldn't see it drip and i watched it for about 10 minutes. i will check for fuel leaks also when i get home this evening. i checked all oil ports and found nothing, but there was a little bit of oil on the back of the HPOP like where the ring is that goes around the back side of it. wasn't much and i didn't see it leak at all and im sure its nothing up there since the front divet was dry in the valley. if the IPR tin nut doesn't fix it i will pull the ipr check it out and put new o-rings on it or try another one. i may also try another cps..
At full throttle with tunes n stage 1s you have may be defueling. When boost gets over around28-30 psi the map sensor starts to pull the fuel back. This is supposed to protect the rpm or whatever they thought a hot rodder might damage. Many guys put on a pressure regulator between the manifold and the map, adjusted to limit the map reading to around 26-27psi whatever you can squeeze by.
i actually haven't heard of one of these trucks defueling from an overboost, but who knows. it could happen to me!!! LoL. i have never had the problem before, but when i pulled the codes i did have an overboost code stored! i only show to have 25psi of boost at the map line though. after the IC swap i went from a little over 30psi to 25psi tops no matter what i do it peaks at 25psi. maybe the guage is messed up?? cuz it does make some ticking sounds when i pull the boost up.
on edit-- i pulled the ICP last night and replaced the o-rings and the spacer and tin nut just b/c i had the parts sitting around and made no difference. got a new ICP coming tomorrow. this morning i pulled the ICP plug out while it was rough idling and it smoothed out so that may be the problem. i also have some new fuel filters on the way from dieselsite so i can change it and clean the 100micron filter, but i just did that 3500 miles ago so i don't think thats my problem. we shall see. after the ICP i tear into the CPS or unplug the map and see if that changes anything while driving.
