Transmission interchange help...

Dad called this evening, and is looking for an auto tranny for his friend's F150. He said he thought it was an early to mid 80's truck with an AOD. I think he said it was a 302. I don't know when they started using the AOD in trucks, but I have one from an '89 Mark VII. I need to know if he can use this tranny in his truck. I'll try to find out more, but that's all I know for now...

thanks!

'88-'93 are the preferred AOD models. Little things like the linkage, TV cable, output shaft splines should be checked. Could be a perfect bolt in, may require a little adjustment.

Beware the TV cable adjustment. Vital to trans function. Trans will fail quickly without proper adjustment.

You have a trans man involved or diy?

ah, thanks! DIY. and I am aware if the TV cable issues. I ran a 200-4R in my Camino for several years before selling it to Dad last year, who is still running it like I set it up... I'm just not familiar with the AOD. The Mark is donating it's 302 for another project of mine.
