Hey all,
I need a new muffler on my 99 F150 4x4 w/ 5.4L engine and am looking for suggestions. Mine has holes in it all along the seams. I'm not looking for any "great" sound ... just no exhaust leaks. I found a Walker that is pretty much "plug-n-play" but it runs about $150. Can anyone recommend a decent muffler for $50-80? I can do some fab work (cutting, grinding, welding) but don't want to do a lot of guesswork to make it go in. Thanks for any help.
Pretty much all of the pipe in the exhaust is sound. However, most of the muffler is toast. I could weld up the seams with a patch piece but it won't be long before the rest of the muffler is gone. Might as well spend the time putting in a permanent fix - but of course - for as little money as possible.
Try our wickedFlow mufflers, they will be very quiet, but can offer improved performance and gas mileage, and the quality will impress you. The price is great. The fit should be great, though you might need to use a piece of pipe to make up the difference in length, depending on which muffler you go with. Most people are choosing the 18 because it offers a moderate sound and fairly inexpensive. The 22" is quieter but costs a lot more, and the 13" can be fairly loud. The 18" is the best all around.
