Windshield question
I had a windshield break in a hail storm awhile back. I had the windshield replaced right way and it took some time to get it into have the body work done. Anyway, after over a month in the shop and being all put back together, I realized that the glass company installed a windshield without the tinted band at the top which is what I had. It really bothers me that they didn't replace it with what I had. Does anyone know if the tint was a standard feature or an option on a 2003 7.3 XLT diesel? I don't know if they will work with me to get it changed or not, just wondered if they should have know, or at least noticed when the replaced it that it was not the same? Thanks for any input.

I know that my 05 Limited does not have it, but if it ever needs replaced I will ask for the tint. From past dealings with having windshields replaced they will typically price the cheapest windshields.

when i got my '04 it had a windsheild with the tinted strip. that windsheild leaked so it was replaced with a new one. the new one had no tint strip. i asked the shop about it he said the glass dealer they use did not have a tinted window for our trucks/super dutys. i know thats not to say other companys arnt making them as im sure they are. but i've found i like not having the tint honestly.

Like others have said, most will go with the cheaper option. It won't hurt you to go and talk with them about it and if you get no where fast, which is what I think will happen talk about having a strip of tint added to the inside of the windshield. They may opt for this cheaper fix for ya and it pretty much does the same.
That being said when I change mine, because I'm a glass installer and will be doing it myself I will look into the w/s with the "superduty" band across the top. I know that will stir interest, and I believe the "harley" model will also fit.
