Okay, Mr cool here, (me) decided to bleed my brakes yesterday.
well, today, I'm replacing the drivers side brake cylinder. and the front side bleeder.
Question is, what was the stock, original, bleeder size in the front?
The passenger side one broke free easily, and was 3/8's.
The drivers side was a different bleeder, but looked like the same caliper, but was smaller. it felt like it was turning out just fine, and it was just sheering the head right off. OOOpS!
gonna be fun getting that F-er out. My front passenger side brake locks up before the other one, so i gotta really mash on them when i get a chance to even them out, I hate dragging tires, its embarrassing.
There are 2 different cylinders for the rears? 2 and something and 3inch something? I'm guessing the 3's are for duals. I'll grab the 2 1/2 inch.
You never know what your going to get in a caliper. A bunch of different castings with different sized zerks. They all work OK there just different looking. Same with rear cylinders. You really should replace both calipers at the same time. Same with rear cylinders.
all the rear cylinders I have dealt with are the same. the 2 1/2 inch and 3 inch are the width of the rear brake shoes. all the SRW trucks I have worked on are 2 1/2 inch rears.
The brake shoes can be 2 and a half inches, or 3 inches. 3 inches are supposed to be for the Dualies. But mine has the 3 inch pads on them, which is supposed to have the bigger cylinder bore.
Cody explained what he could to me on the phone, then I talked to my parts guy buddy who explained what he could to me. So, i've come up with all of that.
And as cody said to me, and I will pass on to everyone else. Just get the bigger one, even if you have the smaller pads.
Get both though, make sure they are the same on both sides.
I'm to poor to replace both, and when you guys see the nice modification that was done to my brakes, you will see why i'm scared to pull off the other cover.
