well it is all according to how they are built. I have a 347 with 382 hp and my uncle has a clevor(351 not 302) with about 400 hp. I can get him off the line every time, but he blows by me around the 1/8 mile. Clevors are more of a high rpm motor because of the heads.
Comparing the two engines:
My 347
Probe 11:1 compression pistons
Afr 185 heads
Trick flow lower and upper intake.
My uncles 351 clevor
Custom keith black pistons 10.8:1
edelbrock cleveland heads
Edelbrock clevor intake
holley dominator carb. ( I think 1050cfm)
Thanks, durk. It was a cheap budget thought, when I was looking at my '74 302, and the 351M sitting there. And having 351C fox body swap headers as well. Plus my '87 Tbird sitting there without an engine. Not to mention working in a machine shop with some extra intakes laying around. More so, realizing I got a lot of stuff here, lol.
i like clevelands, but i wouldn't ever build a 302 clevor with 2bbl modified heads. The chamber is 2 big, and those heads are not worth the hassle or cost to do a clevor. I like the cast iron rhs heads for value.
