02 v10

first post, mornin all,and i looked everywhere on the forum but found nothing like my problem...02 sd lariat,102,ooo miles.changed cops and plugs about 3000 ago.now, when i start it cold,it misses, pretty good, but when it warms up,miss goes away..once warmed up,its 50/50 wether it will miss when i stop, sometimes i feel miss once or twice, when cruising.just had a reader hooked to it,but was told no codes,no pending codes,it showed nothing wrong ??? just my luck.anyone have any idea what the goblin is ? the reader wasnt a pocket one,i dont know what brand, but it was a larger one that he held in his lap,and he could pick the vehicle he would plug it to.any advice would help.didnt mean to rant.

Hi judgdred.
I don't know if this is the same kind of skip I had. My 2000 V-10 would skip when sitting in bank window line and other places like that. I took it to the ford dealership and they put a new fuel filter on it. Runs great now! Hope this helps.

Cops go bad on them, Get it diagnosed from the dealer Then replce them yourself. Mine went in 2 time for COP's Dealer just put on a new set of 10. 6 years later just had one more go out.

Remember Gremlins hate water.
Another thread a guy was going to change his & power washed it went away.

Or just pull all the COPs' & wash with safe solvent. Check the plugs too..2c

I have the v-10 also and earlier this summer while fishing with buddies, one of which works on the ford tech support, I asked him about the washing the gasser motors. He said go ahead and wash the motor, if you keep everything in top shape you will have no problems. His response was when they have a problem of missing and the scanner doesn't pick up which one, they use a spray bottle of WATER on the cops/boot area one at a time to find the bad one. He said it was the fastest and easiest way when no codes are thrown. They will not throw a code until they completely fail, and will not pick one up on the way out.
It is either a bad cop or boot.
Did you replace the boots while replacing the plugs?

I have washed mine several times with no problems.

wallz,i just got on here to throw something else to evryeone.i was going to ask if a cop goes all the way bad,or can it be intermediate ?and if could be internediate, would a scanner pick it up....u answered it,it might not be all way out,but going bad ?..can a new coil be going out in 5 months ?.im thinkin, since i saved two coils from when i changed them,to start swapping two at a time, see what happens. cant hurt .thnx wallz

o.k. wallz, you da man..first two coils i swapped, number 1 an 6...nailed the problem ...started cold, the big v10 purring again. did stop and go traffic around the city, for 12 miles no miss..going to put two new ones in.thought they would last longer than 5 months..this has been driving me nuts for several months, with no codes and a mechanic telling me it wasnt the coils, since it wasnt showing a misfire....to everyone that responded thank you...should i now throw out my factory alarm problem since i havnt seen it covered on the forum ?

yesser, bout six months ago.had the front pass door open and the alarm went off, horn, parking lights flashing..tried both remotes, wouldnt shut it off.had to pull horn fuse.i could then hear clicking, straight in from radio on dash.had to pull fuse and relay for body security...waited a day,put back in,same thing, fast clicking on something under dash,i could feel it,like a black box, whole lotta wires, with parking lights flashing.i just use the key now for doors
