Siruis antenna question

So I went to the dealership today to see about getting the Factory Siruis antenna like I have on my 07 Ranger.

The antenna has a small pigtale and than a ling wire going from the pigtale to the Sirius receiver.

I was wondering if the wire from the pigtale is a generic Sirius wire extender or a special Ford wire? I don't want to tear appart my interior to find out. I also have no clue what the Sirius plug ends look like.

Thanks.

The antenna is still RF, just very high frequency. The antenna's I've seen have a pair of wires, ground plane and signal. I don't know what the OE plug looks like though.

Ok bear with me here. My install was an aftermarket kenwood DNX5140 in a 2006 lariat that had factory Sirius.

Instead of re-running the aftermarket antenna (magnetic) and wire... I pulled the antenna cable out of the stock siruisu module under the dash... There was some sort of square-ended plastic connectory, however like most OEM connectors, there is a normal wire behind it. I just pulled the plastic OEM connecter off the end of the wire, and low and behold I'm staring at a generic SIRIUS RF cable end...

Just plugged it directly into my Kenwood HU and sirus I had!! In order to not lose that little OEM connector, I just pushed it back into the factory tuner module for safe keeping. I'm stoked that I ONLY have the factory antenna on my roof...

Recap:

Factory installed antenna, wire is a regular Siruis RF wire with regular sirius connector hidden behind a special Keyed OEM plastic connector...

Hope this helps some, sorry if it's confusing...

Thank you that info. I did understand it.
Good to know they are just re-keying the Sirius plug.

Unfortunately I have decided against keeping Sirius. I am paying for it on my Ranger (prepaid for 2 more years - 1.5 left) but only driving the Ranger on occasional weekends. Had it 2 years and only 27K miles. The car I was going to try to install the factory Ford Sirius antenna onto I have had 9 years with only 68K. I just can't see paying for what I will be using only occasionally.

Tell me about it, When I first got Sirius it was in a portable unit in my last truck. it was simple I was paying about 13 bucks a month, then I added a unit to my house entertainment center and the charged the obligatory 6.99 extra per month for the seconde tuner. so 20 bucks a month...

They have hiked the price twice since then and now I'm paying almost 30 bucks a month... it all started with the merger, I just cant see how that is not a monopoly (of course I'm not educated in all the laws that define them). I'm about to drop one of the plans, cuz its just rediculous... I love having it in my truck now that I have a Kenwood HU that has it built-in, as its a moving vehicle and sometimes I lose stations when driving, and I know I can always watch my NCAA, NFL, and NCAA games

but the house stays still
