I was wondering if somebody has either a good picture or diagram of where on the engine the alternator adjustment bracket mounts?
I was removing a bad alternator when I noticed that the adjustment bracket was only bolted to the alternator and not at its mounting point. Seems when I had the manifolds replaced, this either was not put on correctly, or, the bolt just came loose and is on the road somewhere. Thanks in advance for your responses.
This is what I have.

I went to Ford and the clerk there set me up. He also printed a nice diagram for me too. I'll upload it to FTE so others can reference it. The diagram also has part numbers.
Sort of stuck here. The bolt hole on the mounting bracket is 3/8 inch, the corresponding hole in the engine block is larger. The strange thing is, that it is not 7/16. It is a hair smaller. In the 1985's, is there a bushing that is supposed to go between the bracket and the engine? I am having a rough time finding a bolt for this. I'm gonna try metric as this is a bizarre size. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
The sleeve (Ford calls it a spacer) is a separate part. The same one used in 1971 is still used today, and so...is availabe from Ford.

Used with Alternator, P/S Pump, Idler Pulleys.
-------------------------------------------- PaulzF150: There are myriad different alternator adjusting brackets used with the 300 I-6.
The difference is: The amperage of the alternator, what year the vehicle is, with/without A/C, with/without T/E (smog pump).
First off, thanks for responding! My truck takes a 61 amp two pulley alternator, has AC and the smog pump. I enclosed a link to a diagram of the 300-6 for my year F150. The adj. bracket I have is the one displayed closest to the alternator.
The bolt that attaches the bracket to the engine is 3/8. It looks like the old bolt loosened up and due to the vibration over time made the hole bigger. MY question is: has anyone used this stuff called Quick Steel? I know that this would be the easy way out, whereas, I should probably go with a helicoil thread insert. Bear with me here as I do not consider myself to be a mechanic. I can do light work, tune ups and stuff like that. Thanks in advance.
It has been my experience to leave that kind of stuff alone, better to do it right,heli-coil it.You put any of that wonder stuff in there, and in the worst weather,in the worst place at the worst time,it will come apart, and you will wonder why you put it in there.Fix it right and be done with it.
