Couple Questions

I just purchased a 1990 F350 model F37, 7.3 diesel. I am looking to change out the gauge cluster as the one in it has seen much better days. I pulled one out of a junk yard today and noticed that there seemed to be a vacuum line attached to the cluster? I have never seen this before and was wondering what it was all about as it is not a turbo motor.

Second the blower motor only works on high, I was thinking that this may be the resistor found inside the rear left of the engine compartment, is that a safe bet or is this problem usually linked to something else.

Last of all the truck has the stock radio, which does not work at all. No lights or noise come on when I turn on the power. I checked all the fuses and they are good to go. Is it common for the stock radios to go completely dead or is this a wiring issue that I will have to look into?

Thanks for the help in advance

I would think you are on the right track with the blower motor. I have no clue about the clutster though. I have read on here that you have to be careful swapping clusters because they are wired differently through the years, even if they look the same.

Alright well then good deal on the blower problem. That is rather strange that the wiring would be different from year to year, I would figure it would save ford money to make them all the same. Glad you mentioned that though, somthing to look into.

Yes the resistor block that mounts on the blower duck work is for the fan speeds other then high.

I have seen the stock radios just quit, sometimes the display will quit but still play music.

Sorry I have no real clue on the cluster other then for boost but you said its non turbo so don't know that one.

For a 1990 truck, you need a 1987-1991 cluster, they are all interchangeable. There shouldn't be a vacuum line going to it, that makes no sense at all. Are you sure you're not looking at the speedometer cable?

You're on the right track with the blower motor.

The stock radio could be completely dead. If you pull the radio you can swap it with a known good one, it seems unlikely that the radio would lose power if all the fuses are good.

Yeah it is not the speedo cable, I am positive of that. Thanks for all the help with the other two items, I greatly appreciate it.
