I'm halfway through my 460 swap.....had a 351M in it, NOW the problems.......the motor is in and bolted down and NONE of my accesories are bolting up............the power steering pulley hits the box........and the crossmember is in the way of the alt and bracket...........not sure where to go next!
needless to say I am very frustrated........tomorrow I'm going to move the motor up in the motor mounts to see IF I can gain anything on the pulleys and brackets....
The donor motor is a '71 Lincoln 460 that was in a '78 Continental WITH POWER BOOST BRAKES.....I have a GM PS pump that I might be able to make work with the stock (for the motor) brackets......my brackets I'm trying to use are from a '70 460 and the 79 pump bolts right up to that bracket.........thats where the pulley hits the PS box
I found it easier to use the pump and bracket off the 351m,moving the pump up on the 460 water pump like it was on the 351m, you can use one of the holes as is,and make the other hole a little larger, then there is a little fabricating to do for the other end that bolts to the head, I just made a L bracket ,that bolted to the head in the same spot as to where the 351m did,and bolted the other end to the pump bracket,.... the alt. I also move to the top of the engine, using an trans dapt chrome adjustable arm, making a little hole adjustments, and lenghtening the sliding portion of the bracket that bolts to the alt....give me a couple days and I will go out and take some pictures of my swap application,if you wish??,...or you can just order everything you need from a place called L & L products,....very expensive,...but ,all the guess work is done for you and ,the parts look really cool ,...lol
L&L brackets are worth their weight in gold when this happens. They look expensive when you dont think that you need them but when the ball is at the one yard line, they dont look that expensive at all.
For this guys that dont buy the L&L brackets, Econoline vans (redundant huh?) with the 460 wil have brackets that work. often a little difficult to find, and you may spend a day or more looking for them.

Looked all over the web and I can't find the Econoline mounts the ones I am finding are the clam shell mounts like whats on the 460 stock(car) mounts...................advanceauto has them for $22 IF I can make them work!!

Is that PS bracket on a 460? If so, mine is almost horizontal, and with the saginaw PS pump it puts the fill tube at a very horizontal position, not nearly as vertical as the stock pump in that pic. Is it ok for it to be at a much more horizontal angle?
OK after reading this TWICE..........75F350 I just want to make sure I have this right...........I need the PS bracket and ALT bracket for the Econoline..........
I was thinking you was referencing the motor mounts................
Which towers and motor mounts did you use? I used the L & L, and had no trouble at all with any of my brackets. I did have some pulley problems that I ended up resolving by using a set of after market pulleys.
I have the stock towers and a set of "cheap" ebay mounts I got from a friend for $20...........thing is my buddy runs the L&L mounts and runs Mad Dog headers and he has fitment issues with the primary tubes and the steering shaft.........I don't want to fix one problem just to create more!!

I went out to get some pics for you,but ran into some troubles, the batteries have went dead ,and so now I can't power the tilt front end to access the engine, it will be awhile before I can do anything about it,....sorry,I tried
I "think" the bracket in 75F350's picture is one made by L and L. If I were to put a 460 in one of these trucks, I wouldn't waste my time trying to re engineer these things. Pony up a few bucks and save your self a butt load of time and head ache and buy them. http://www.landlproducts.com/
I had a 460 in my truck that the PO had installed and built all the brackets on his own. While they worked they were far from trouble free, and the belts never quite lined up right. If I had left the 460 in, I would have forked out the bucks for the mounts and headers from L and L. BTW I think there are several dealers that sell the mounts cheaper than you can buy them direct.
