so iminstalling an alarm in my truck this weekend the truck is a 1997 f-250 4x4 w/ a 460 the alarm is remote start and pager any tips or advice on what to be careful of when wiring it up also how hard is this going to be'?
Ok, I just installed one on my truck also. All the wiring you will need to be messing with is underneath the dash in that harness mess of wires. I have a schematic of my truck (88 F-150) and I dont know how similar or different they are so I wont give it to you. The easiest thing is to use a test light to figure out whats what. Also, mine is only wired to the doors as I do not know how to use a shock sensor. But, its not too hard after you figure out what wires are what.
cool man sounds good all i have been hearing is stories of how nothing will work right if you wire and to get a pro to do it i have wired steros and amps and know how current is suppose to flow so i figured i would be ok
Well, I have wired all that stuff as well and I was given a professional install alarm and they come with absolutely no directions. It took me 3 weeks to get it in but it works perfectly fine. Im actually just about done getting my air horn (with electric valve) wired into it so when the alarm goes off the horn will.
Anyhow, it is a lot more complicated than youd think and I respect the guys that do it cause its a PITA.... BUT! as I said, if you can figure out what wires are what under the dash you will have NO PROBLEM with it. I used those connectors you put the two wires side by side into and clamp is down and the metal arcs the two. It made it easy cause there is no cutting and splicing.
