jsut bought 2000 ford f 250. front axle pinion wobbles around, axle tube seals are hanging loosely off, passenger side knuckle can be jiggled around. bascially bearings and seals on the whole front axle need to be replaced. ive read a bunch of all the different seals and bearing but i can't keep them all straight. can anyone tell me exactly what i need or point me in the right direction to rebuild this thing?
There are step by step instructions for ball joints in here which would help and I would tighten up that pinion until there is a little drag on it and check the oil in there also.
oh im pretty sure the whole pinion bearing is shot. its really wobbly. i basically need to open up and pull the axles out and repalce al bearings and seals. any idea on where to get a list of parts i need?
I think if you get a master rebuild kit it will come with all the bearings and pionon seal. The dust shield and the hub seal are separate. I got my bearings and seals at Valley truck parts in grand rapids mi. Try the dealer to see if you could get a break down or parts list.
sweet thanks. today i took out all the gears for the locking hubs just so nothing gets actuated and starts spinning my front axle shafts. until i can get this thing rebuilt.
I'm at the same point I think. I have an 07' f-250. 82,000 miles, 8" lift with 37/22's. I'm sure the lift and tires sped the process up but... The passenger side dust seal near the knuckle is hanging freely. There is a nice pop in the front end when I slam on my breaks, or hit the gas really fast. I have the outer U-Joints. But thats all I have so far. I'm wondering if I need to just order that Master Rebuild Kit also? I took the caps off the hubs, and tried to remove the snap ring, but I broke one pair of snap-ring pliers already. Its in there pretty damn good. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.
