ok so here are the facts installed 4.6 romeo into expy
knocked tranny dipstick tube loose and outa the trans leaking coolant everywhere
after installation of motor started to make sure ran with no fluid in trans(dont think coolant leaked outa tq convert but could be wrong)
never drove w/o trans fluid tho
it feels like it is in fail safe mode or something like a 3rd gear i had a out put speed sensor code took a peak and that was disconnected hooked it up disconnected the batt for a bit erased the code and it still feals like it is in fail safe mode.... could it still be up there (code) and something wrong with pcm?
maybe its not the trans but the motor? motor rev's fine out of gear in prk n neu....
it only pulled up that one code at the auto zone....
also it does shift when i took it up to speed maybe 2nd to 3rd? and from 3rd to 2nd...but when its just starting out its gotta b in at least 2nd if not 3rd....
You need to slow down and think this through. If you didn't drive it with no fluid, it is very unlikely you damged the trans or torque convertor. If it feels like it is starting in 2nd, maybe it is. If the linkage is out of adjustment or connected wrong, you could easily end up in 2nd. Fords, when 2 is selected start in 2nd. It will feel like a dog.
One other possibility is the convertor is locked when it shouldn't be. Maybe the speed sensor IS bad, that could screw up the shifting.
If ut all worked before the engine swap, it still should. Something is probably just not connected properly, or at all.
i bought it with a blown engine so i dont know if the trans was ok before... the trans only has 5000 miles before the motor blew , when i pulled motor it said perfect shift installed some date at 121k and it has 127 k now... maybee the linkage from the outside is off from not being tight? ill snug it down and see what happens. thanx for help guys
