The wiper motor on my 92 shorty practically fell off, 2 of the 3 rubber mounts broke and it was just flopping around on the 3rd one. I will be taking a trip to the scrap yard to get another one and I was wondering if there were any other Ford models that use the exact same motor? Believe it or not, last time I was at the scrap yard there were only 2 Aerostars so it would be great to expand my search to other models if possible.
As a side note, I saw other posts where people were having difficulty getting the top nuts off because the rubber disc below kept spinning.
I had this problem and resolved it by driving a self tapping screw through the body metal and into the metal disc that is bonded to the rubber below. Just be sure to put the screw as close to the nut as possible so that it will hit the metal disc (thats bonded to the rubber) as opposed to just the rubber. Once the nut is off remove the screw and put a dab of silicone over the hole or just leave it like I did. Hope this helps someone in the future.
So regarding the motor question, can anyone offer some help?
After doing a little research, it looks like the motor is Aero-specific. The Ranger/BII are interchangeable though. (yeah, I know that does not help much)
I got a new one at the local parts house, it was for alot of differant listings for Ford trucks, just had to change out the arm and the ground location on the motor. It was in stock and less than $45.
Job done.
The scrap yard had 7 or 8 Aerostars this time so I was able to choose the cleanest / newest looking one I could find. I decided to buy the links and pivots too since my originals had a little bit of play in them. I also grabbed 3 extra rubber mounts just in case I need one down the road.
$35 tax included for everything.
Thanks for the input.
