The FE filled the need for a medium-displacement engine created by the discontinuation of the Lincoln Y-block V8 engine somewhere close to a range from 1959-1977. That is the closest thing i could think of to DFE... I know that is probably not what you are looking for, but i have no clue what else could possibly look like DFE on a big block ford

460/429 casting numbers will be just below the valve cover, near the exhaust ports....it will be visible without having to remove the valvecover. passenger side head would be near the rear two exhaust ports/driverside head will be near the front two ports..often times, especially with a leaky valve cover, it will be covered in grime and you would need a small wirebrush to see it....
