Is there any known problems for 93's? I know I can't go wrong with the 6, but there can always be a clutch or trans issue. Guy says it has 165k on it. Carfax shows one incident on left side with "sign post". It's worth 1200 excellent so I think I will try 1000 or less, or no deal... My first vehicle. Thinking being, learn to drive 5 and get used to it, good mpg and a cheap Ford to mess with.
Looks like a nice truck however I doubt the guy is going to come down 700.00 or more on it though.
Solid Florida truck? No "Best offer" listed, he/she wants 1700 by the looks of things.
Go in and insult the man with a low ball offer, you stand a real good chance of getting run off, I know I would.
Look it over real good, keep your thoughts/comments to yourself as you look. Then take it for a ride, in town and a open highway mixed in, let the owner ride with you even if he doesn't want to or feel the need.
Then make a serious offer based on all information. If its a low offer, near half the asking price because of something or somethings you found wrong with it, (better be something serious) mention it at the time of your offer.
It looks like a decent truck. I would say see if he will take 1500 for it, or maybe a little less. Good choice on the wheels. Its definitely worth more than 1000.

It is true that it is possible to low ball and insult. But anyone that advertises on Craigslist would be expecting this and shouldnt as readily get insulted. Especially if the person making the offer stated that the truck was nice and showed appreciation of the nice condition or features of the truck to the owner/seller .
A big mistake that is usually made is to make an initial offer that is too close to the asking price-and the person making the offer has no real room to negotiate a second offer. Even after it is then realized that the seller is motivated and would have been willing to sell at a much lower than the original asking price.
" danr1" did make a good point about looking for problems and drawbacks on the truck. Most sellers will not describe the problems and flaws of the truck-and these make for good negotiating points. But only if the first offer was low enough to allow a second offer lower than the asking price.
Thanks a lot for the replies and info guys. Keep it coming. Those wheels sold, but there is another set on CL that I can look into.
I do hate looking on Craigslist at trucks, but most dealers these days are just as bad. Everyone on CL thinks they have gold, but is there really anywhere else to find a decent used truck advertised local...
By etldak: any truck that runs and drives is worth 1200

I'll "third" that!
Check the rear spring shackles--if they're rusty, use that to negotiate him down. I believe they're about $125. (plus bolts) but I'm not sure about that price--been a while since I replaced them. Then add in your labor, of course. You could call a dealer and get a quote for their replacement, then use that figure to beat him down a bit.
Unless they don't rust down in Florida? Up north, rust never sleeps.

If its TAGGED, then I would say its worth it....if its worth 1200 according to NADA/KBB in excellent condition, then why pay any more....go look at the truck and see how low he will go....if its not below 1200 then show the book value AND carfax report...take a buddy with you(and give him a cpl hundred bucks)-money talks so when you go pull outta your wallet say $900 and say thats all you have...if he refuses, go over and talk to your buddy and have your friend "lend" you a hundred or so and go back to him and say you really want the truck and your friend has agreed to "lend" you the money until you get paid....it may seem sneaky, but if the guy wants more than book value then he better be able to document why its worth more....he may be trying to get one over on you-Dont be a victim!!!....haha good luck...so what if you get run off by offering a low ball offer-you would only be out an overpriced truck
you would have to go and look at it to really tell if its a good all around truck (looks to be in good condition). as far as the motor, that I6 is pretty much bulletproof, i have 190,000 on mine and it runs better than my friends 02 bmw . the Tranny is pretty reliable too. def check the undercarriage very carefully. and when you test drive it, get on it a little (not saying drive it like you stole it), alot of times you can only hear certain problems when the engine is under load.
Thanks for the replies guys. Called him today, said he's selling it for his brother, good tires, clean cloth bench, and FL title. Who knows with anyone on CL, only you can hope its not a lemon and hope its always been in FL...
Looked at it today. He won't go lower than $1600. No radio, no handle on tailgate, missing tint on driver window, both bumpers bent up, rotten cheap tires with decent tread, a rusted tail pipe that has disinigrated beyond the other side of the tire, no owners manual, rear view mirror in glove box.
If thats the case tell him is not worth more than 1000-1200 and tell him if he changes his mind to let you know. That is if your still even interested in the truck. Otherwise there are better ones out there. I'm sure you'll find what you want.
I agree with quicklook2, people almost always try to make their vehicle seem better than it is in ads.
