Ball joint nut size?

Im getting ready to change my ball joints on my 03 FX4 250 and was wondering what size sockets I need to change the Ball joints? I have been told 28mm for the top and 34 mm for the bottom? Someone also told me the bottom was a 32mm? I looked over at snap on and they dont even sell a 1/2" drive 28 mm! So where can I order them? Do I need impact sockets? Thanks!

wanabe try this linky on this forum. I am a total noob to this scene, but this put this tutorial together. It is excellent and list's all sizes and tools you will need. You can't go wrong with this play by play. He did a great job. Take a look and read, good info.

When I did mine, for the original upper nut I used 1-1/8" and the lower I used 33mm.

I put Moog's in and both upper & lowers used a 33mm nut.

Good luck!

For some reason 1 1/4 pops in to my head for the top one but I am not sure right off hand. If you have the new ball joints take the nut and get the right sockets. I dose not need to be impact socket. I used my breaker bar and snap on batt. gun to do the hole job. There should be a torque setting for the nuts too.

it is a easy job too...
