Auto T case

Ive got a 90 Bronco with a puch button tcase. the button dosent light up and im pretty sure the shift motor isnt shifting. Where do i start to diagnose the problem?

First check the fuse and make sure your in newtral. (just checking) Remove the switch and test it. Then pull the shift motor off the transfercase. While your under there, try to shift the case with a vice grip. Let the motor hang by the wires and try the button. If nothing happens, unplug it and see if any power is making it there. Now you know its between the switch and the motor. Good luck.
