Help asap please

I am looking for a used Diesal and have two in mind.
My issue is this. I looked at an 04 today 6.0 and it had issues and I am trying to find out if they are simple or I should run. The truck I looked at took 3 tries to start and once it did it bloew white smoke, not just a little but a piller the whole test drive. When I parked it and walked around to the passanger side I noticed it was pissing black sutt water from muffler about a quort. It didnt seem to have a power loss. Now i know they are prone to EGR valve problems but this seemed more. Please help.
The other truck i am looking at is a 02 7.3 with no smoke.

The 7.3 is probably the best bet. Almost sounds like a EGR or Headgasket issue on the 6.0

Buy the 7.3 and then visit us down in the 7.3 forum and we will spend the rest of your money for you modding it up.

No 7.3

Well I didn't go with the 7.3 or the 6.0 I asked about I found a different 04 6.0 I ended up with at a good price.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
The reason I didn't go with the 7.3 is it was (and i know this is going to sound stupid and what your thinking) It was lifter 6+ inches with 44's and in great shape. I was getting a truck mainly as a tow rig for my jeep and trans porting 4 kids camping so was not looking for a show truck. I am to **** and would be freaking every time the kids got in if I got the 7.3. Plus I would much rather have the 6.0's gas mileage over the 7.3's. <o></o>

I do have a question for you long time heavy duty owners as all I have ever owner were F150's. <o></o>
Question: My F250 has one of those full steel wrap around bumpers, (not the bolt on cages) that weights about 600lbs and it was mentioned that these heavy bumpers make it hard to keep the truck aligned and wears the suspension prematurely. What are the thoughts out there.<o></o>
