leaky injector question

ok i went and bought a return line kit today.and i was checking oil and stuff ya know the normal checking.and i noticed an injector was leaking where it threads in.i assume the copper gaskets in the kit will fix this.i know its leaking because its bubbling diesel from the base of it.so im guessing im loosing some compression there as well.what do you guys think?

The injector is actually consists of several parts that have two threaded outer parts, and there is a possibility that it is leaking from that threaded portion. Change the o-ring kit first, if you like, clean it and see if it is still leaking. If it is still bubbling after that, it is easy to remove with the line pulled aside. The #8 injector (closest to the driver) tends to get showered with water from above. I've noticed this injector may be prone to the outer surface pitting and rusting (below the threaded portion, and recessed in the head). Some have even broken off at this damage when they were removed. So, if it is the rear injectors, my advice is to remove it and check it. Replace the injector now if the outer surface is pitted.

If you miss is repetitios, not intermitant. You can try this, this is how I found a bad injector in mine. Start the engine, let it warm up, loosen the line nut at the top of the injectors one at a time. Loosen only, don't take it off! High Pressure! Each time you loosen one it should change the sound of your engine. If it does not, that injector has problems. When you loosen them, loosen enough so a little fuel starts coming out. This worked for me to find a miss in mine. If the miss is intermitant, it is probably something else. I'm told, I aint no expert! I'm still learnin too. I am sure someone with more experience will clarify this.
