Well it died on me about a block from the house. I used my ATV and pulled it to the house. No SES light whatsoever. I just went back out there after it cooled down a bit and she cranked right up. Drove her around the block with no issues. This really leaves me scratching my head. I borrowed my ol mans toyota to drive till I can get her in the shop. The local diesel shop everyone recommended doesn't have room for it till Fri or Mon. Even the local dealership recommended them, so I guess it is worth the wait.
Ok, just left the dealer. The mechanic there is swearing up and down it is a stuck open EGR valve. Does this make any sense to anyone?
Sorry, but that makes NO sense to me. Check the procedure in the tech folder for ICP/IPR diagnosis and replacement so you can check your hot cranking ICP pressure. Wide shot here is that the IPR is sticking open and closes after you turn it off, as you have an 03. Still, I'd be checking the ICP pressure when it fails. It's a simple voltage reading.
FWIW--Jboczar probably gave you the solution to your problem earlier. He's a pretty doggone good diagnostician. Stuck open EGR valve on a no start??? Nope, sorry, never heard of that crap.
Guys I know I am reviving my old thread but I have yet to get this problem fixed. I have already scratched one dealer off of my list. I am just terrified to bring it into the dealer. Me fixing it myself makes me even more nervous. I only have just over $3k to get it back running right. Is there anyone in the Memphis area that works on these 6.0s that is reliable? or a member looking to make some money on the side? Thanks again for the input.
Well I just got the call from the shop. Turned out to be a blow EGR cooler resulting from a clogged oil cooler. I am looking at about $3600 to have a EGR delete and oil cooler replaced. Thanks for all the IMs over the last few days.
