Muffler/straight pipe Question

Hi guys
I haven't been on here for a while as I was traded out of my 03 6.0 Power Stroke for an 06 Duramax (did not like that truck but it was company supplied). Well I've got a new job so I bought an 05 Powerstroke. I straight piped the 03 and it sounded great but had a seriously loud turbo whistle. I'm looking for a muffler that will give a nice bark but not a loud turbo whistle. I've also heard that 03 6.0's were know for the whistle. Any ideas or advice. Will an 05 straight pipe be as loud as an 03?

Thanks
Steve

I have a straight piped '06 and the whistle isn't nearly as loud as the '03s it has very good road manners. When on the throttle at certian RPM ranges the V8 sound comes out quite nicely.

Are you running a catalitic convertor or did you cut it off.

I have the muffler and tip from Aero... Looks good and sounds great

You could just straight pipe it and hear how it sounds... can always add the muffler later. Check with some of the site sponsors and see what they have available- The most important thing is to eliminate the stock muffler

I had one of those mufflers on my Duramax but didn't really like the results. I think straight pipe first and see, like you said.

I swapped out my pieces with an MBRP 3.5" downpipe and the MBRP cat delete pipe.
