Well my transmission blew in my 99 F250 4x4 Powerstroke. I have been running the Edge Evolution Programmer. I have now found out the hard way what it really does. I am already having a beefed up torque converter put in and the trans-go shift kit put in. Is there anything else you guys would do (I am on a budget as well) And should I definitly get rid of the programmer? Any advice would help. Thanks
guess the first question is how long do you plan on keeping the truck? If you plan on keeping this truck for the long term, call Brian down at BTS in Arkansas. He will build you a transmission for around 1500 or so more than a regular rebuild that he will dare you to try and break. I've seen pictures of his son blowing a 7.3 block into 3 pieces, running over 100 psi of boost pressure, and he didn't hurt the tranny.
If you paid for an upgraded torque converter and a transgo shift kit installed along with the rebuild, I'm not sure how much, if any money you would save. I can tell you I've never read a thread with someone complaining about their BTS tranny.
x3 for the BTS. unless your tranny is half way built, or you cant afford the BTS right now. if you cant get the BTS then the only other thing i would add next to the torque converter and shift kit would be a 6.0 trans cooler. with that stuff you should be pretty good. keep the temps down and even a stock trans will do some crazy stuff as far as power and performance.
