Franken-Holley
) so my dad told me I could take my pick. I've got:
1) A 390cfm 4160
2) A 600cfm 4160
3) A 600cfm 4150 with emissions hardware
My intentions are to bring all three Holleys back from the dead and combine the best parts of all three carbs (Franken-Holley, if you will) using:
a) The 600cfm 4160 throttle body
b) The 4150's metering blocks, annular secondary boosters, and crossover tube
c) The 390cfm 4160's side-feed (straight inlet) fuel bowls
Basically, I'd be converting a 4160 to a 4150 (trading the metering plate of the 4160 for the 4150's metering blocks) so I can just buy a full jet-kit and swap jets instead of buying a million metering plates (more expensive) to get the mixture I want. The reason for swapping fuel bowls is to get rid of those stupid side feed bowls with the 90-degree inlet with the filter element inside.
Has anyone ever done this? And is this a good idea, or am I just a mad scientist?
I wish I had enough money to buy an Edelbrock. They're the way to go though because they're so versatile and easy to tune.
Hell if I was really loaded, I'd buy that $3,500 460 intake and x4 Weber 48 IDA package I keep seeing on ebay
