I noticed that you have an extra speaker grill in the left rear sidewall behind the third row seats that I don't have on my 2007 EL. There's a lot of wasted space in the left rear interior trim. I store a first aid kit and stuff through the fuel reset door. I wish they would have made the storage comprtment deeper or with a lid like my old Astro/Safri van had in the rear.

The speaker grill is the subwoofer that comes standard. Maybe the XLT doesn't come with that?

Hope this isnt a threadbuster for eddiem, but 07EXPYEL mentioned something when refering to the rear panel fuel cut-off switch area that I had a question about quite a while back. I have an 07 EL as well, and I really question what appears to be a fuel line in the area of the reset button. If it is that, when did it become OK to allow a fuel line in the passenger compartment? It is even at the very rear next to the door, which would seem to be a risky place to put one. Lets see, we move the tank forward of the axle, presumeably for safety reasons, then stick a fuel line back there. The cut-off switch should prevent any fuel spills there, but why risk it.

Maybe I am mistaken, maybe it is only a tank or filler tube vent-----still could have gasoline in it though.

.

Why does Ford or any other auto maker do risky things? Cost Savings.

Why not add a few dollars worth of steel to reinforce the A and B pillars to help with rollover cave ins? Cost Savings.

Right on berry--I kinda already suspected that, but had hoped there was a logical reason for it. I know, fat chance on logical . Makes me also wonder what the NTSA might think, but suppose they will withhold judgment until at least some folks get burned up. I had hoped it was just a little old age that made me cynical-----appears some of it may be because of the facts. TX

Really though, the fill nozzle for the fuel is right there anyway. . ..so that thin metal/plastic isn't really going to be any worse.

Very nice rig. I hope you enjoy it. I am waiting and hoping ford will put the 6.2 in the 2011 and make a 3/4 ton version.

Very doubtful, the expedition is a dying breed (exactly why I bought one). In a few years everything will be econoboxes (like the flex)

I wouldn't go that far.

Not sure how many of you have researched the CAFE regulations, but trucks over 8,500 lbs and passenger vehicles over 10,000 lbs GVW are exempt.

There is a definite demand for a full size SUV that can tow...I see the Excursion coming back at some point! They just have to make it BIGGER to comply with federal tree-hugger laws!

I could more see that, 8500 Super Duty SUV run by the 2011 Diesel. Anyway you look at it because of CAFE and other items I do see the expedition dying out.

If the Expedition is discontinued I'll have to get another one. I don't want to ever be without this vehicle. Got it to tow my camper. As a daily driver it can't be beat.
