I have found a couple Highboys, and have been wanting one for a long time... One is a 1975, but has the NP203 so that is out...
The other two are both 1977's...
#1- '77 with a Brand New Crate 460 with comp came etc... All rust taken care of new doors etc.... But its 3000.00
#2- '77 with a rebuilt 460, and has been to fl and back once since... Same guy has owned it for 20yrs.. It needs one cab cornor, and a little rust by the tailgate... but is only 1500.00 new clutch etc...
I really did not want to spend 3000.00, but what do you guys think...
Also truck two did not have a divorced transfer case, I would think this ia a bad thing!!! What should I be looking for other than the obvious.
Thanks for any suggestions or insights you can give...
I believe they stopped making high boys in '76
They have divorced transfer cas, power assist steerting . 360 engines etc.
They cn carry a cord and half of wood but other then that nothing i like about them. I have spent countless hours in one bouncing around with a sore ***.
I would take my '76 1/2 ton over a highboy anyday unless you want to carry allot of weight.
Highboys (F250 4x4's) were produced until midyear 77, the truck your looking at with a married t-case is most likely a late year 77, they sat about 2" lower.
What is better married or divorced transfer case??? One is divorced and one is married... Both are lifted so who knows... I want the best possible truck without breaking the bank
There is good and bad to both...The later 77 will have the better integral steering...High pinion front axle (Could possibly be a D60)...more than likely a D44 though...The True "Highboy" will have a Divorced Transfer Case (Short Driveline between Trans and Transfer case....Low Pinion D44 (With Disc Brakes at least)...the 75 Will have Drums up front...Front axle not very desirable....I would probably go with the late 77 unless you really love the Highboy.
