So I finally figured out the clunk in my F250 during low speed braking and accelerating operations as well as sharp turns. I searched and troubleshooted for weeks trying to figure this out. I could not pinpoint the noise source. Everyone kept suggesting ball joints, tie rods, sway bar bushings, slip yokes, and more.
So I replaced the tie rod ends, greased the slip yoke splines, and checked ball joints. The culprit: loose bolts. These loose bolts included transmission crossmember (main noise source), shock towers, and axle pivot brackets.
Moral of the story: start with the obvious and simple checks before replacing parts.
