What do you mean by a longblock? How would you go by knowing if you have a longblock or a "normal" block?

Long Block basically means it has heads.

ok guys i missed out on the first cummins so i found another 30 miles away. its a 1993 ram250 ,this ones intercooled first one wasn't, 2wd 120,000 on the clock runs great $950, hopefully gettin ti tomarrow SO the new plan, im gettin an adapter to bolt the cummins to my zf fabbin motor mounts, and i have to get a flywheel and clutch for the cummins to make it all work. ive crunch numbera ans i am sure i can do it for $3000. actually $2500 but i figured 3 beacuse all the little misc peices add up fast.
heres my truck now

old motor if ya want any parts im me and i'll get ya a price. 30,000 miles one rebuild heads and went through and resealed and new bushings in turbo.

i think im just gonna turn this into a build thread intead of starting a new one

Man the prices in your area are totally backwards of how they are here.
You can't find a cheap Cummins and the IDIs are everywhere.

That'll be a cool swap.

Even though I'm a HUGE Cummins fan I like my IDI turbo in my Ford, wouldn't ever swap it out. I understand why your doing it though. I doubt you'll regret it.

Did you even look to see what is wrong with the IDI?
Are you sure the Cummins is worth anything?

yeah the motors apart now#7 rod and rod bearing are now one and the crank is trashed. i dont really no for sure y yet though oil pressure just dropped to 0 all at once and it started knocking hard, and buy the time i got her to the side of the road all i couls smell is burned oil. also the cummins runs and moves and it comes with service records from when it was new it belonged to CSI which is a local company that does electrical work for local municipalitys. but like any used motor its still a risk
