Hard Starts

Hey guys, i recenty changed my starter. Right after changing it the truck did not start, all it did was spend for several seconds before firing up. It does not crank anymore on the first spend. Do you think the GPR might of shorted out ? Please help. Thanks

Welcome to FTE. When you say all the starter does is spin, is it engaging?

Yes it does engage

I went so far as to kill the battery trying to crank it. The minute i put a battery charger on it, it spins once and cranks, I had the batterys check and they were ok.

The starter may have gotten extremely hot if you ran the batteries down cranking. Its engaging and turning the motor over but not starting correct?

that is corect. i checked the gpr on the gp side and did not have any fire so i changed the gpr. i then checked it again and had fire on the gp side. i tried cranking it but it did not crank again, it just spins over. if i connect the battery charger to it, the truck cranks right up.
